They are usually placed in garages or the attic of the house and these are all the likely places where little rodents like to hide. Depending on the location, you might be able to extract the rodent, but sometimes you might need to get professional help. 

If It Smells Like Mold

With the other problems listed above, it was quick and easy to solve them, but if mold is the reason behind that musty smell in your house, then that is a difficult problem to get rid of. Usually, the smell of mold grows gradually and embeds itself in your house, so sometimes you might not even be able to smell it at all.  

The only way you can find out is if someone enters the house after spending a long time outside. The presence of mold indicates that there is a water issue either in your house or in the air conditioning system.
